Basically as title says. We bought this house last fall, roof is from ~2018. I've been working on preping to install gutters, but making sure all problems are fix beforehand. So water was observed leaking down siding from under soffit in one spot. I pulled off aluminum flashing for fascia but didn't find any obvious rot or water damage. Some of the fascia boards are newer. I suspected the roof was too flat coming up to this edge and sure enough we have had ~1" of rain last day and water is pooling on the edge of the roof. Leaking behind the drip edge, under flashing, through fascia then landing on the aluminum soffit and finally dripping out against the aluminum siding on the house. We have inspected attic, basement, interior walls and house is dry so its not going further than the eves luckily. So my question is how do we fix this properly? We have replaced a few fascia boards but I'm still new to roof work. I understand the roof edge is lacking correct slope, but google was unhelpful on how to address this. Is this an install problem from when they installed the roof? We don't know who the installer was but we do have a unused pack of shingles that was left at the house.

Would you suggest removing the drip edge? I'm not sure the specific term but there is a Y shaped underlayment with the drip edge inserted into the V part. The drip edge is held in with a few nails on each section under the shingles so I can fiddle with it when its not raining. Would a gutter apron be a possible alternative? They look to encourage more sloping.

The roofers will be along.
To me it looks like they pushed it in to far making it flat on top instead of keeping the angle of the roof. We don't see drip edge out here so mine would just be guesses.

I can't figure out what is going on with the edge of the shingles. Has it been torn up from ladders along most of it, then repaired with tar (there's a line along the shingle can't figure out)? Looking closer near the radon stack, the shingles look to extend farther out than where you are standing on the ladder in this picture and they have been bent like they were hanging over the edge once. Either way, the shingles should extend past the drip edge, that is an absolute.

The drip not bent to match the slope like Pat says could be causing the problem, but I think that additional 1x was added later for a step-fascia look, the existing drip edge moved out, all after the shingles were installed.
