It's probably a good idea to wait. With asphalt driveways you are supposed to let it weather for a year before you seal them. I don't know for sure about your roofing but would assume your installer knew.

Well my roof is only about 3 months old, so no leak for sure. I just want to know why I needed to wait for a silver/white coat on a new roof that’s all.

I know Neogard make a elastomeric coating that is white, and 90% or more reflective, even comes with a 30 year warranty. Is designed to go over epdm rubber roofs. Not sure what your roof material is. That might be something to look in to.

2-3 weeks, not years. Just gotta let it flash off decently for the silvercoat to adhere without the asphalt bleeding through. No need to use any expensive roof coating on a new roof. Just basic cheap silver coat and maintain it every few years and it will maximize the life of your new roof. All it needs to do is protect your membrane from it's worst enemies, weather and sun.
