I've researched this for months.... How is a fireplace flashed down a wall? Had stucco, going to lap siding and stone veneer. One layer of Tyvek over 5/8" Ply so far. I want to weather proof the chimney where the siding intersects.....HOW?

I don't want to rely on just caulking... The Stucco wasn't flashed and leaked... For decades.

Im not sure exactly what your describing, if you could post a picture it would help. Anyhow, when we build a chimney, we use a piece of lead on the brick shelf. It tucks up under the siding, stucco, ect.

This isn't for a roof penetration- there are volumes on that....

Ahh, well usually the cedar ground or J-chanel on vinyl is what butts up against the brick. If you are going to side it, then you could ask in the carpentry section, or as a mason, I would just run a bead of silicone on the ground and nail it on. With the tyvek tight and the siding cut correctly, caulked, it wont leak.

The only way it might leak after that is if you have a roof that dumps rain onto the shelf on the chimney. Poor/no cricket if you have a roof that requires one.

this a vertical situation correct?
you could use an angle grinder with a masonry wheel and cut a vertical joint into the brick tight into the corner and slide a piece of flat metal flashing (wide enough to span from the new cut groove over onto the new wall 2") bed into caulking (a quality roofing-flashing caulk) and nailed into the wall. you will install siding over this flashing and the end trim will also be caulked to the brick........ make sense?

Thanks! I was headed that way- just wanted to check.... A friend works at AutoCad and couldn't find a detail for this.... Seems common....
