Hi,
I just discovered that the insulation on the power cord on one of my home appliance is cut. The copper strands haven't been damaged, just the insulation.

How does one go about making this safe to use?

It's an old appliance and works just great.

Ayuh,.... Just tape it up with some decent quality electrical tape,.....

If you have some 100% silicone you can add a couple of neat layers to that area, let dry, and then tape. Ideally you should replace the cord. Or shorten the cord if appliance or plug is close to that cut.

Conductor is exposed but not broken.
A little tape would likely fix it.
As it is, if it’s plugged in and someone happens to touch that area, they could get a nice jolt.

100% silicone? I'll actually be doing using some on a sink drain this week. Is that the kind of silicone you mean?

If it says 100% silicone, that should do it. Silicone takes a while to cure, but is tough stuff.
