hi, does anyone have any advice about the best way to repair this concrete job? basically, it's very uneven (and unfinished on one side) and the self leveling concrete was used incorrectly.

this is a detached garage.

(trust me, the hanging extension cord is a known and separate problem :plain:).

thanks in advance

what'd they use for finishing tools - raccoon tails ? were you trying to repair some surface defects or grading issue,,, why self-leveling conc ? 3 choices: 1, remove & replace; 2, diamond grind & overlay w/polymer-modified cement, or 3, place an unbonded overlay of more conc,,, your finished floor elevation will probably determine which is best,,, your wallet will also chime in,,, come to think of it, there'd also be a 4th: keep the lights turned off

Was that repair done by someone that called themselves a professional ? Man that is UGLY . First question are you planning on doing anything as a DIY project ? Or are you trying to get educated before talking to a pro ? At the very least that repair crap needs to go away so grinding probably the way to go . Just like a house you have to start with a sound foundation .

Once it is ground and clean now you can determine what are the remaining defects to be taken care of . Ask your neighbors/relatives/friends/co-workers to see if they can recommend a GOOD concrete professional . In my opinion you want at least two estimates on what you need done . Good luck and keep us posted on progress .

is grinding doable by one person with little experience? :)

i was going to attempt to DIY if it was relatively simple, but i don't have a lot of concrete experience, so i'm probably going to go with a pro. appreciate all the information so far.

IF, after 10 minutes, you haven't gotten the hang of it, you're putting lots of stress on your back & knees for nothing :vs_OMG:

you can rent a 7" grinder w/dust shroud & vac just about anywhere,,, YOU'll also need a good dustmask + safety glasses,,, kneepads are nice, too !

look on eBay for a ' turbo grinding disk ' w/threads or buy it where you rent,,, keep the disk flat & you'll get much more use out of it @
