I think I have the papa bear model of Fisher's Wood Burning Stoves and it's in my basement next to the chimney. Is there some way at all I could move this, probably not since the chimney is right there but I never know. I'd like to put in a pellet stove because those are just better, to me. It was here when we moved in

Remove what you can and make it as light as possible. Then you could use rollers, heavy duty dolly/handtruck, straps, and couple strong buddies to help you out.

Wood pellets stoves are great. Just a couple drawbacks; You need power to run them and the pellets come in 40 lb bags. IMO, I vote for keeping the papa bear.

What few pellet stove I've seen I was not impressed.
The blower noise, the noise from the pellets feeding into the hopper, having to buy and store a ton of pellets (in order to get a price break) and keep them dry can be a challenge.
Have you priced out one of those pellet stoves?
If I was going to do this I would sell the old stove and make the new owners move it.
