Fireplace bumper

361 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mathmonger
I installed a rubber bumper on the edge of the fireplace hearth area, as I was concerned about our grandchildren falling and injuring themselves on the brick. The adhesive tape that came with the bumper doesn't seem up to the task of holding it in place, especially when toddlers grab on to it. I'm hoping somebody has a better suggestion to hold it in place. I'll attach a couple of photos. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Painters use special duct tape for hanging plastic on brick and stucco. Sherwin-Williams has it. It is super sticky. That would probably work. A double-sided foam mounting tape might be an option as well. Bud has a good idea though. Make a couple of little holes in the mortar and anchor a piece of wood on. When you want to remove it, filling a few little holes with mortar is easier than trying to scrape off a sticky adhesive residue that has been on there for 10 years.
