I apparently can only figure out so much on my own, although I am very proud of where I got to. I recently moved into a house that had a fourth bedroom with two small closets on one wall, and a gap between them. Perfect place a for a desk, and to utilize the space best I decided to build a desk right into it. I secured slats to the wall and cut out a solid piece of wood to fit right in.
Where I'm not having a problem is finishing it. I decided to keep the wood look and applied a coat of poly/stain, the lightest I could find. It looks great, but wasn't as smooth as I wanted so I applied a second coat like the can suggests. I'm not sure if it is going to be exactly what I'm hoping for though. Any suggestions on getting that smooth desk finish? Should I sand it and start over, or did I miss a step? Thanks!
