I am refurbishing a cloakroom. Floor and walls are being tiled and I am using English oak for skirtings, architraves, window board and threshold strip.
Ideally, I would like to retain as much as possible of the wood appearance, with just a slight yellowing of the colour. In view of the requirement for a resistant finish on the threshold, what would be the best finish to apply. I can if necessary stain the oak, but preferably not.
