I am in the process of changing out my bladder tank and replacing the whole house filter assembly with a larger unit and am wondering if before the bladder tank or after is the best place for the filter assembly. The current setup is after the tank. Thank You.

You never want to install anything that can block up between a pump and its pressure switch; so after the tank but, disposable cartridge filters are not a good choice for point of entry (POE) filtration.

If your water is not visibly 'dirty', why are you filtering it? If your water is visibly 'dirty' don't use a disposable filter, use a backwashed filter.
