They like to sell the screws; which I use for the walls. They don't do so good on the 1/4" for the floor.

What do you guys use?

I used to use roofing nails shot from a roofing nailer. I used the screws a few times and didn't go so good. The roofing nails work great, are much faster and cheaper too.

How have you been installing it on floors?

:) I always used roofing nails except one time. Was planing on using them this time but I wanted a second opinion and I got one from someone who I think knows a lot more than me on the subject.

Sincere thanks.

The question was about 1/4" Hardie so we know Colby is talking about floors. 1 1/4" roofers are just fine.

I used 2" roofing for the 1/2" when doing walls. I must mention I didn't use Hardie very often. Durock then PermaBase before going with Kerdi mostly 10 yrs ago.

Yeah. What I was trying to say, is that when you attach to studs or joists, just about any screws are fine. When you're attaching to plywood, you have to be careful to use not only the correct length screws, but also screws with the correct shank length. I rarely use nails myself.
