Hello,

I have existing 4x4 wood posts supporting a small roof over a porch. I would like to wrap the posts with Kingston sized face brick. Do I need an air gap behind the brick with weep holes at the bottom? Or can I have a thick mortar backing over lath paper behind the brick?

Use 15 lb. felt then lath, then your brick. You'll need something to protect the post and something to help hold the brick in place. Use brick straps every 5th or 6th round as well.
