I want to install a couple of vents but my neighbor's wall is within 3 feet of these vents (directly facing)....is it okay to go ahead or is it against the building code? thanks for any information that you can give me.

It would help if you stated what you were venting and where you're located as what can be done is sometimes regulated differently from place to place. If this is a condo, there are even more regulations.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly. One is a dryer vent and the other is for the washroom. This is not a condo but a house. I realize that every regulations differ but is there any sort of general consensus regarding this.

Bath fan- duct termination min. 3' from bldg. openings or plate line. IRC 302.2 UBC 504.5
Back-draft damper required.
Clothes dryer- duct termination- End outside in back-draft damper& no screens
Min. 3' from other building openings UBC 504.5 Smooth metal inside. No screws in airflow. 4" min. duct.
25' minus 2' per 45* bend, 5' per 90*. Male ends must face direction of airflow.
Steel duct only through fire-rated assembly. Be safe, G
