Hi All

I'm no expert, but have hung quite a few doors. This one has me puzzled

Just moved into a new house and the back door (that exits to porch) stick out almost an inch at the top, while the bottom is fully closed (at the open side). I removed the old copper draft excluder thinking it might have been that (and it was a mess), but the door is still stick out an inch at the top. I put a long level up against the surface of the door. it is a little bowed, but no more than 1/4 inch.

What's the best way to fix this? is it just that the hinges are poorly aligned? If I have to relocate the hinges slightly, what;s the best way to fill the old holes so that the screws don;t just go back into those when i try and make a new adjacent hole

TIA

What type door? Got a picture?
No way is it a hinge issue.
Lay that level against the face of the door to see if it's bowed, should be dead flat.
Lay it against the outside edge of the jambs, (not the door stop molding) should also be dead plumb.

im with ron on this one.. a 1/4" bow happens on new cheaply made doors but a higher quality door wont . more than likely the wall its going in isnt plumb.. the door needs to be hung plumb. the only time you can play around with the hinges is on a interior door
