Can exterior soffit lights be run of a inside light circuit or do they require there own circuit like outdoor receptacles? Only reason i ask is because i know any outdoor plugs require there own GFCI circuit but if any plug is more than 8' feet from the ground it can be supplied from a interior light curcuit.

Lights are 10' above ground in the soffits..

Well, I don't know The Canadian code on this but our outside receptacles do not have to be fed on their own circuit.

Bob, also, even outdoor lights IN the ground do not require GFI protection. Only standard receptacles. There is no "in contact with wet earth" code.

I did not say it was code. I was adding this to add to the justification as to the logic of not needing these lights on a GFI.
