According to the international residential code specifications, 3/8 inch plywood for sheeting is the standard for walls with 16 inch on center studs. Can you do OSB 3/8 or recomend something else? Is 3/8 inch enough?

IRC does not typically specify "standard". It specifies minimum acceptable. So anything less than code is so bad that it is illegal. You are allowed to do things better than code.

We changed from 3/8 to 7/16 about 15 years ago. I am not sure if that was local here.

It did make it better in that we could use the same sheeting for walls and roof and didn't have to worry about the odd piece getting mixed up on the roof.

I can't remember the last time I seen 3/8" ply used on a house, fairly common for sheds though.

Where I am it has forever been nominal 1/2” ply or osb for walls....and lately 5/8” for roofs even at 16” or. Ron
