I'm installing a new exterior faucet. The run will be about 40ft back to my laundry room. I'd prefer to install the shutoff valve back in the laundry room rather than near the faucet, as the laundry room will remain relatively undeveloped and exposed for the time being.

Any issues with this?

You will be fine--the shut off should be in a convienient place--if that is your laundry room, then that is the place.

Make it so it will gravity drain.
