Extending plumbing for outdoor faucet - size?

Main supply line to the house is 3/4" pvc. I plan on running 3/4" pvc about 30 ft. to a new outdoor faucet location. Before I started the project I previously bought 1/2" galvanized pipe to serve as a riser from frostline up to faucet location. Should I return it and get 3/4"? Does it matter?
