exposed side of kitchen island

2307 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  water lily
I am installing a kitchen island. The exposed part will be visible from the entry way. It will also serve as an eating area.

The wood color/stain is cherry. The walls and ceiling are all covered in pine groove 7" boards which have yellowed or aged. I will also be putting down a wood floor perhaps a chocolate color.

Question is how to treat the exposed side? Continue with the pine boards, match the cherry or go with a whole new color?

Ideas please for this cottage.

I agree keep the wood matching on the island. When you do the floor make sure that the color you select will compliment the rest of the wood in the cottage. You could always take a sample of the stain down to the local paint store for matching. Your local lumber store for the 1/4" plywood that way you can by pass the manufacturer and save a couple of bucks.
