I am building a 3000 sq ft Key West style home, 2 story, metal roof and exposed (open) rafters.
My question is making these rafters look good, while not breaking the bank.
I built something similar when I lived in Orlando, and in that instance I used wood cladding over the exposed beams, placed there by a finish carpenter.
(Very different design there...it was a Japanese style house)
So, can you make some recommendations to me about what would look nice but still not cost a fortune?
My options seem to be laminates, salvage lumber, and ordinary finish lumber stained and varnished with quality fasteners.
Thanks in advance,
Garrett
