Hello Everyone,

I live in Colorado and we had a very harsh 2019 Fall and a rough late freeze in spring 2020. I had my trees looked at because some of them did not leaf out and the company recommended spraying with EnviroTree fertilizer. I paid them for their knowledge and service and then bought 2.5 gallons of the fertilizer myself. The directions indicate mixing 2-5oz per gallon. I did this and sprayed the trunks on the rest of my trees but the trunks did not stain like they did when the company sprayed the other trees. Is it possible they did not dilute the fertilizer or is the staining something that should not have happened? I'm just trying to make sure I am applying at the correct concentrations.

Cheers,
Andrew

@Medic-5150, nice to meet you!

What kind of trees do you have? Pictures? Where in CO? Southeast is one place, Rifle, for example quite different. I've never heard of the product you mention, and I'm gonna quiz a bud who's an arborist who might provide insight. He'll want to know the kind of tree, maybe see pictures. No guarantee, but, a fascinating question.

And good on ya for being a good "parent" for your trees.

Hmm. That 5150 anything to do with the code for crazy people?

DoomsDave,

I live in west Denver Metro at about 6000'. I have two Autumn Blaze Maples which I was told had an iron deficiency. After the Envirotree trunk soaking the symptoms went away and the trees are very happy. I also have an Ash tree which did not leaf out but is still alive as all the branches are still limber and it is suckering, better luck next time haha. I also have two Aspen trees (I know they're bad here, but they were here when we bought the house). I also have a Ginkgo biloba and a dwarf crab apple tree. The maples, one Aspen, and the Ash were sprayed and were doing great and had the trunk staining.

As for the 5150, yes, it is indeed in reference to the crazy person code. Thanks for noticing, not many do!

Ah, thanks for the reply, hmm. Maybe some pictures.

So, you're a California refugee? 5150 is part of the California Penal Code, I think.

Yeah, I left 10 years ago and never looked back. Here's some pictures of the trees.

The trees are still having some iron issues. I ended up putting iron spikes directly into the trunks of the maples. The Aspen survived summer and the ash never did leaf. Lots of snapping on the branches so I suspect it's dead but time will tell.

I do like Van Halen, but that's not the reference. The reference is a radio code for crazy/insane person.

Scratch the bark on the ash.

If it's not green it's dead. Or, hold a stem in your hand; if it's not cold to the touch, safe bet it's also dead.

Ash make good firewood if you have a fireplace. Things don't look good alas.

The staining is a normal part of it I have used envirotree for a couple years now with my customers in the Denver metro area . Had no problems or complaints and it also lets you know someone actually sprayed your trees..
