I will be relocating an entry door on my patio which has 2x4 walls with brick facing. There is a 2" deep by 5" wide brick ledge running along the entire perimeter of the concrete slab which I will need to fill in at the new door location. The door will be 32" so the length of the brick ledge to be filled in will be about 36".

I'm trying to determine the best way to anchor the new concrete to the existing slab as well as how to reinforce it. My initial thought is to install 3 or 4 pieces of 1/2" rebar into the horizontal face of the existing brick ledge about 2.5" from the edge using epoxy and leave them sticking out about an inch. I'd then put a few pieces of wire mesh running lengthwise in the forms to help hold things together. Does this sound sufficient?
