I'm running a few circuits in my basement using EMT. Is the use of EMT as ground still within code compliance? My town adopts the latest NEC as soon as it's published. These are all 20AMP circuits.

A continuous EMT system counts as a ground.

As long as you are not using any concentric or eccentric knockouts, you're good to go. Make sure all connections are done tight though.

Just for clarification, I thought I read somewhere that EMT can only be used as a ground for runs less than 6'. Is that incorrect? I've always run a ground wire out of habit, but wondering now if I can actually get away with not running one?

There never was a 6 foot limit for EMT in the code. That was for metallic flex conduit
