Elusive craftsman style doors

I need to replace a cheapo porch door and have decided to upgrade the porch entrance while I'm at it. I found a door I like on the HD site, see link, but it's fiberglass and I've been told it chips easily by an employee pal there.

I thought I could find something similar in an inexpensive wood but it's proving hard to find anything even close. I really just want a wooden door with an English feel - yes I know craftsman is American - and with a 1 lite stained glass insert. I have a stained glass person who can build that for me.

Any ideas? Does it come down to having my own carpenter literally build a door? Yikes!

Does your buddy say the fiberglass chips or is it the paint applied over it?
I've not painted many fiberglass doors but don't remember seeing any of them chip. IMO that would take some significant abuse. If it's paint chipping the most likely cause is either improper prep or substandard paint.

My person showed me one that had "chipped". A serious chunk had fallen off exposing a depression that was a good 1/3" deep. She emphasized how hard that would be to repair vs a wood door that might even look natural with a dent. She said it was the finish by which she meant the paint.

The reviews also mention smudging of the finish that is hard to fix.
Never heard of them chipping either. I have one and absolutely love it. Get them prefinished to save a lot of work.

Another salesperson at HD found me a wood craftsman style one that is perfect. What a difference a good sales staff can make.
