Try a Google search for electrical code and your state's name. I suspect it will answer your question. Be careful, though, that your location doesn't have some unique requirements - many do. You can also call your local building department and ask them.

Google your local jurisdiction. Mine has a website and the applicable code on their site so you can read what they use right on line.
