several nights a go we had an electrical storm knock out power for 16 hours.
the electric company replaced a transformer, but when power was restored only partial of my house was working......when i turn on the clothes dryer everything that wasn't working starts to work??...when i shut off the dryer those same rooms cease to work...i have a cutler-hammer panel with a 100 amp main breaker...the dryer is a 30 amp breaker...
i'm retired and don't have a lot of extra money so can anyone help me?
my common sense tells me that the 100 amp breaker was damaged by the
lightning strike on the transformer......i took the front panel off of the circuit
breaker box and everything looks normal....any suggestions???

thank all in advance, and GOD bless you all....ralphe

You've lost one leg of your service. Call the power company immediately and have them check for damage on the line to your meter.
Things work when the dryer is on because of backfeed through the dryer circuit. Not good.
