Half the electrical is working & the other half is not in the garage. One outlet below the fuse box, the security light on the front of the garage & the lights in the garage are all working. The garage door, the security light on the back of the garage, the outlet outside the garage & one just inside the garage are not.

There is a fuse box in the garage & all the fuses are o.k. Not sure what the problem is. I'm a widow & I'm thinking I'll have to hire an electrician but if anyone has a suggestion before I do that, I would greatly appreciate it.

Good chance you have a GFCI receptacle in the garage that has tripped. Look for a receptacle that has two buttons labeled "test" and "reset". Press the reset button and see if power is restored.

No other problems in the neighborhood & I'm not really sure how long it's been this way. My best guess is at least a month or more. There is only one GFCI receptical, the one just outside of the garage. I did push the test button & it made no difference.

Try the RESET button again

On many GFCI's it is NOT sufficient to push the RESET to where it is flush.

The RESET button needs to be pushed hard to where it is about an ⅛’’ below flush.
Then it will return to the flush position when pressure is released.

Report back if this works.
