Before I bother calling an electrician out does anyone know if okay within code to add an outlet on the roof area on the wall portion?

I know my garage lights are the only thing on a 20AMP breaker and thought I might have a guy add one up there for Christmas lights. Save from having to run extension cords from the ground and then spreads out the electrical usage on different breakers.

If not no biggie just looking at ways to lighten loads per breaker to add more lights each year.

I'm in Terre Haute IN.

Thanks

Because of the height of the receptacle off the ground I do not believe it needs GFCI protection.

But for safety the electrician can run a circuit or tap off the garage lighting circuit (as you want to do) and then put a GFCI receptacle in the garage and hook the receptacle you are putting up near the roof to the load side of the GFCI receptacle in the garage. This way if it trips you don''t have to climb a ladder and go on the roof with snow on it if it trips.
