Electrical issues in new construction?

Need to post your location. If it was me, I would be getting an arbitrator involved to get the builder to fix the problems, not keep giving you the run around. What did your contract with the builder state, when you signed taking possession of the property?

We are in North Carolina. I have sent a letter to the building company stating that if by the end of January everything stated was not fixed, we would be taking legal action. However, the list keeps growing and growing! They take forever too. For example, we bought the house in August, notified them in September that the dishwasher didn't work right. They came out twice with the appliance guys who both recommended a new one. A new one was finally delivered here last friday but was installed by the GC who I know does shoddy work. Ran it over the weekend and discovered it's leaking from the door which in turn, ruined the laminate flooring already. This is our first house and we are really fustrated with everything. We are going to make an appointment with a legal office on base (husbands military) soon if it keeps going like this.

also should add that there is a 1 year warantee on the house for everything.

Get a lawyer involved now, do not wait any longer.

Could be as simple as a loose wire on the switch or cheap switch that needs changing.
It's something that should not be put off!

Both of those problems sound like very simple issues to fix. They probably used really cheap switches, and they sometimes fail like that. Replacing those two switches should be the end of it.

Contact the EC directly and have him make the required repairs. If he refuses, contact the local EI in your area. If that doesn't work, send a written complaint to the licensing authority in your state. Getting a lawyer involved at this point could be expensive and may not be necessary.

I agree. They used the $.39 switches.

If he trys to do the repairs tell him you are going to report him to the state for doing illegal electrical contracting. There is a link on the state website.
