Hey TC, have you had it apart and looked at the brake maybe it is just loose or got a huge build up on it.
That's funny 'cause I was just watching some videos so I would at least have an idea of what I was about to embark upon.
I'll take it apart and clean 'er up so I can eliminate the possibility of it just being filled with crap......but I don't think that's the issue.....she's 20+ years old and has seen a lot of use.

Ayuh,.... Not so sure on an electric saw, but every chain brake I've seen is a simple cam-over design, with springs to hold tension on it...

I'd guess there's sawdust where it shouldn't be, or the springs have sprung...
