I am trying to figure out where to find a motion activated security light that can be mounted under an eave (instead of on the wall) but my electrical box is not recessed, it is a surface mounted exterior round box.
Most lights would have on their feature list wall mount or eave mount or both, but most of them have a larger cover that extends beyond the box so when you mount them on the underside of a surface mounted box, you end up with a perfect ring for rain and critters to penetrate.
Are there light fixtures specifically designed for surface box mounting, and alternatively, is there some sort of a water tight adapter ring that can be mounted into a surface mounted box, to make it functionally adequate to receive a light intended for a recessed box?
