I have an unfinished knee wall I need to put outlets in. On the other side of the knee wall is attic space. I plan to insulate and sheetrock the wall once done. My questions is, what is the easiest and up to code way to install the outlets? Can I run the wires down the knee wall and out into the attic versus drilling through all the studs and running them through the wall?

If one is finishing an attic in a stick frame house, it is common to add in a knee wall so as the “room” does not have one inch side walls....and then to put an “access hatch” in to meet codes for accessible spaces. So, you put in the knee wall....and then you have attic “space” behind it. To the op, if that is the case, it doesn’t matter whether you put the wires through the studs or Fasten along the back or side of them, whatever is easier.

As I understand it you are proposing running down the side of the stud, into the attic open floor space and up the side of the next stud. I see no issue if the studs are 2x4. Code requires RX to be 1.5 in. from face of stud. Are you sheeting both sides of wall?

One side will be sheetrock, the other will be vapor barrier. I was thinking about running it down the stud, then cut a hole at the bottom of the vapor barrier, and letting the wire run down the rafters just like all the other wires.

Yes, it is a 6'6" knee wall running from the floor to the pitched roof. For the attic space on either side, what is the requirement for access? As long as you can get in there, is that good enough? I.E, a 16" gap between studs.
