HI Im currently planning on building benches at a school in duval county, Florida. i plan it being 5 ft long and dont know what i need to have,do or about how much this will cost.they will likely have to be put in the ground to stay and i would like to have a backrest. i plan on building 8 benches in all and would greatly appreciate you help and a price estimate

I've advised many Eagle projects so I will be more than glad to help. The 1st thing you need to do before we worry about the design is contact the school officials and have them clarify any requirements they are going to impose. I'm thinking of things like you mentioned along the lines of them having to be fixed in place but they also may have requirements about materials, finishes etc. After you collect that information come back and post it and I'll help you put things together.

The school district says that they would not need any specific requirements. I really need to know an estimation for materials and costs. The attached bench is the bench similar to the one i would like to build

I have a group of family members and scouts that would be willing to help me build these benches. As far as tools go I have basic household tools. I know of several tools that can be donated by fellow scouts. The estimated length is 5 feet. I don't know about the other dimensions just yet

I'd think that the planing would also be part of an Eagle Scout project. Starting with agreeing on a design (lots of free plans out there). Once they have that creating and pricing a material list would be easy.

I'd be looking for someone connected with the group with some basic carpentry skills to help, maybe the guy that's supplying the tools.
