My daughter recently moved into an older home. She removed the old wall plaster to replace it with drywall. There is a small gap from the ceiling to where the drywall ends. The problem is the ceiling has a swirled design to it and we are not sure what to do to fill in the gap without interfering with the design. She would prefer to not use crown molding unless absolutely necessary. I would appreciate any ideas.

Hard to say without seeing it but is it something that would look ok caulked?
Sometimes flat taping the top of the drywall against the ceiling helps.

Sounds like pictures are going to be needed. Is it that the drywall wasn't as thick as the plaster and lath? If so, maybe another layer of drywall?
