Looking for some quick advice - I just hung 3 joists in my ceiling to cover a spot 44 inches wide. I thought I'd measured well, but, it turns out my last joist is 1/2 inch higher then the other two.

Is it okay to install drywall as is, I assume the drywall will bend sufficiently to cover 1/2 inch, but is it safe to do that, or am I placing too much pressure on the drywall that it might snap/crack later?

If unacceptable, would simply tacking a 1/2 strip of wood along the joist that's too high be the way to best resolve?

furring the other joists will be fine. The drywall will not bend very well and will pop the nails eventually as well as look terrible.

If you ever looked down the walls, ceilings of most houses with a LONG straight edge, you will see that they undulate in/out. You may never notice 1/2" over 32", but you can shim it out as needed and all will be fine.
