50’s pier and beam house. Back of HVAC vent for living room protrudes into closet behind wall roughly 4 nches with terrible covering. Had small mold issue in closet (moisture problem fixed) and I’ve removed affected drywall in closet. Back of HVAC vent had a thin sheet metal covering it and then some stick on insulation? Thin sheet metal covering had small amount of mold on it. Thinking that needs to be removed as well. Best solution to re-do vent entirely, so it’s flush between walls? Or box/frame out the portion sticking out in closet then Sheetrock over it? (Black on picture 2 is just from stick on insulation)
