Drying newly milled

596 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Go4it
I mill a lot of my wood. In the drying process I paint the ends but still ( after 6
Months ) End up with a lot of curved and cracked ends. I going to mill up about 300’ of cherry wood and would like to have a better outcome. Any ideas?

I guess I should have said how is the lumber stacked? you want space between each board with supports every so often. If I covered it with plastic I think I'd want to remove the plastic every so often to let the moisture escape.

I've always stored saw mill lumber in the barn stacked/space with no special precautions - for the most part it does well.
