I have a kenmore dryer that will not shut off when the cloths are done. It just keeps going and the dryer and cloths get real hot. Does anybody have a idea what would cause this?

need to know what cycle you are using. Time dry, sensor dry or auto dry. If it is time dry then you have a bad timer, if sensor dry the you either have a bad sensor or a bad timer if auto dry then you either have a bad timer or possibly a restricted vent
model# ?
does it have an electronic circuit board up by the timer?

What does the power relay do?
the relay is only used to send power to the heat element.
