Dryer vent quandary

Hi,

I have a quandary that I would like to get some opinion on.

I am finishing a basement project and will mean that the dryer will be on the inside and about 25" from the outside wall.

I plan to run the 4" pipe up (approximately 9ft) into the ceiling cavity to a 90 deg elbow, and then run toward the exterior wall mentioned.

What is your opinion about this method and approach?

Thank you in advance.

Use 45 degree elbows if you can. You will most likely need a dryer vent booster.

Always do the shortest run possible. Longer runs have the opportunity of clogging up and causing a fire.
Per the code in my area, the run can't be over 14' with 2 90's......

You need to look at the specs for your dryer....most will have the maximum limits on the run.

If your dryer manual says ok...then what your wanting to do sounds fine.

Here is a link with some additional info.

it sounds perfect, I see no reason this would be a problem
Consult your dryer's owners manual...it should tell you what you can do, according to the mfg. And there are always duct boosters made specifically for dryer vents.
