Hi guys,

I tried setting up a timer to a fan and have myself and the mrs remember to turn it to 60min whenever we turned the dryer on... fail..
So now I'm looking for a way to have the fan be tied to the dryer power... had hoped I could find a plug strip or something thing that plugged into a standard 120v outlet and had a pass through 120v plug than dryer plugs into and act as a relay to also turn on the other plugs, or just had something I could wire in place of the time that's currently in there to replace the switch.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is your dryer gas or electric? If it's electric then your dryer is 240v not 120v. I would look into a contactor setup but the hard part with that is having to modify your dryers internal wiring to make it work. doing this voids the UL listing. Probably better to put a sticky note on the dryer itself.

Yeah something like Msradell put up would be as best I can get i imagine.

sad part is i got is all ass backward... the current setup is a timer controls an electrical outlet which a 12v adapter is in for a waterproof shockproof dust proof PC fan, 140mm, but only a 4 inch dryer vent cover headed through the plastic thing that covers the basement window on ground level... so I cut a funnel to trap and force all the air flow through the 4 inch hole...

It really is a mess...lol... but the moisture building up under the plastic cover really did a number on the wood and even masonry so need something of this leve to rmemdy it.

all because i was too subborn to not listen to the dryer vent warning "dont make this tube longer than 7ft max" well, just to the window is 7ft 3 inches... and up and out would be another oh...20inches or so...

its gas, i wouldn't screw with 240.

Thanks guys!
