I'm at the point in my project where I need to place the hardiebacker on top of my tub deck frame. My main question is should my hardie butt up to the flange or overlap it. This flange is horizontal not vertical. I'll provide pics. Thanks in advance.

OK thank you guys. I'm gonna use redgard and caulk the seems....mortar under the hardie and screw it down correct? I bought the green square headed screws that say for hardie m do I have to predict the holes since the screws are not self tapping? Thx again
