drop ceiling - shower

Hi,

I'm looking into an alternative of removing a drop ceiling in a shower.

Is there a mildew-resistant product thick enough to cover the drop ceiling tracks[texturizing it]? Or an additive that can be mixed with joint compound?
Can spray adhesive keep the ceiling tiles from popping off the track when rolling/brushing on the mix?

Why not tear it out, add some framing, and drywall it?? Acoustic tile was never meant for "wet" areas.

If you insist on leaving it, look up Grid Max on the web. It's a plastic covering system for grid. Maybe go to an "antique tin" panel....
