Hi, I am building a new shop that will have some plumbing in it. Could you take a look at my diagram and see if it will work ok? The drains pictured going out the bottom go to the septic. My questions are as follows:


Will the 2" floor drains need a trap underneath or not.

Can I tie the septic (toilet) vent and the vent for the rest of the stuff together before it goes out the roof, or do i want two vents going all the way up?

I have one vent just for the toilet, that should be fine. I have another vent that is for the rest of the drains, is that enough and located in the correct spot?

All drains require a trap, in the case of a toilet, the bowl is the trap. Check local code for venting, everyone is slightly different.

If this will be a cement floor you should use 4" for anything that is under the cement. You can have short runs of 3", 2" or 1 1/2" but even if code allows long runs in your area I would keep them as short as possible. Most codes will allow you to tie your vents together and exit the roof in one place. If that is your plan go with at least a 3" stack and tie the vents together in the attic or ceiling. I would go with nothing less than 3" on your floor drains (4" if under cement) and all drains including floor drains require a trap.
