Hi - I have a small part of my yard where the drainage is not good and mushrooms end up growing in the area after a heavy rainfall. My question is, is a catch basin with drain plus French drain the answer for this? It’s a short distance to the mulch where I would probably be best to moving the water so looking for opinions. I attached a short video for reference. Thanks as always

Ayuh,.... It appears to be where a tree or bush used to live,........

Fillin' the depression with top dirt, 'n seedin' it, is what I'd do,.....

The mushrooms will go away after the wood rots away,.....

Yes We took some trees down about 3-4 years ago but was hoping they would be rotted by now. Assuming that this will keep happening until they are fully rotted huh?
Ayuh,...... Fillin' the depression might stop the shrooms from poppin' up,.......
or not,.... hard to say,.......

I'm guessin' the bulk of the rottin', 'n settlin' has happened,.......
Maybe another year or two,.... or not,.....
Depends on the tree, the soils, 'n the climate,.....

3 or 4 years ? Not even close. I have a couple of small areas in the front yard that I'm finally getting after for fungus growing on old tree stumps. When house was build 20 years ago, they cut down 3 or 4 trees, 12" - 18" or so in diameter, but did not remove the stumps (AHs !).

Every year the fungus makes it's way to the surface and I kick it out with my heel while mowing but the grass doesn't really grow well there and it is depressed. So I started digging yesterday but quickly figured out it is going to take a mini excavator to get the job done right (= dig up stumps) :vs_mad:

PS - Moxie ur wise beyond ur years - thx for all ur help on here all the time - greatly appreciated always !

I agree with Bondo. We had a spot at our last place that perennially grew mushrooms. I pushed a shovel in a found a piece of 2x4 a couple of inches down - probably tossed aside during some project. Try a shovel - see what you hit.
