I'm looking for any ideas or thoughts on improving the set up of my downspout and drainage off the front of house. Current set up is downspout goes straight into an old drainage pipe where water runs onto driveway about 5 ft away from garage door (near front car tire in pics). There is almost no grade on the driveway so this is not good. Driveway does need to be replaced but that won't happen for another year or so. Ideally, I'd set up downspout drainage to open lawn space to the right if you're facing the house. There is some nice slope over that way towards street and natural runoff area, but where the downspout comes straight down is actually on small section of steeply graded down slope towards the driveway. I think the pics do a better job explaining all of this. Thanks for any input you may have possible solutions

It doesn't show in the photos but would it work to re-slope your easvestrough to the other side of the house? Or you could simply run the downspout out onto the lawn to the right, at least 6'.

Shortening the downspout and installing an elbow to direct the water to the side yard looks easy enough from here. EXCEPT that you cannot divert water onto your neighbors property, and I can't see enough in the picture to know if that would be an issue or not. Depending on the amount of rainfall in your locale, the roof area that this downspout handles, and the type of soil you have, this may or may not be an issue.

Referring to pic 4. I would shorten the downspout to connect to 3-4" section of PVC pipe that I angled toward the street (appears to be about 45 degree to the corner. This pipe would have the top edge at least 6" underground and would run out to where is hits open air. Cut the steet end of the pipe to match the grade.

Alternative is run it along the side of the drive and closer to the street.

I would not use the cheap, thin wall PVC. I would use sewer grade pipe for a longer life.

Thanks for feedback everyone (the urine man was great). I would run a line parallel to driveway on the side of driveway to street down as one mentioned but planning on replacing/widening driveway next year so don't want to go that route. No issue directing water to lawn area as it hits a natural runoff area not close to neighbors property. Shortening the downspout and going to the right seems like best solution but to avoid a lot of exposed piping I'll have to dig a fair amount down into the hill to maintain slope. Will let you know how it turns out once I get off my butt and do something
