Strange, you are right. The front door buzzer is suppose to give a ding dong sound, and the rear door buzzer just one ding.

Try tapping the charm mechanism and see if one may be stuck. then try again. You could try connecting wire to rear, but I'm sure it will just give one ding.

If you free it up and get the ding dong sound working, put a little wd40 on the moving parts see if that will help. If no luck, it may need to be replaced. They do wear out after awhile. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the reply, yeah most likely it’s a defective chime. I looked at the transformer and it is rated at 16v, 10Va. I will be installing a Ring Doorbell pro that requires a 16v 30VA transformer so I will be swapping that out. Hopefully that will fix the issue with chime , if not then I will purchase a new chime. My question is will there be any issues upgrading the current 16V-10VA transformer to the new 16V-30VA with the current doorbell chime? Also how can I find out the current doorbell chime brand, I didn’t see any brand on it.

Maybe when you take it down the brand name will be present in an area you can read it.

Good question. I read somewhere awhile back that the ring video doorbell is compatible with ac powered door chimes that work within the 8-24 volt range. Your old transformer is 16v 10va and new transformer is 16v 30va, so it should work.

The ring doorbell is not compatible with wireless or dc powered door chimes. I remember installing one for my sister a while back, can't remember what all the instructions/owners manual said. You could google all that info if needed.

As you mentioned, probably a good idea to just get a new ac chime to be on the safe side. The plungers on that old one are getting ready to fail anyway. You really shouldn't oil/try to fix them, just replace them.

I don't see the lower plunger, looks like it is missing and I don't see an upper chime...

The plunger on the right might be the "Ding" and goes though the coil all the way (acts as the lower plunger). The one on the right does not hit anything on the top, the chime is missing?

Maybe I just can't see it because of the angle of the picture.

Cheers

I see that one of the chime bar is missing. Wire up this in a test environment, and then see if it moves both strikers. If you are missing a chime, you can get them pretty much any where. Even from another doorbell.

I used amd recommend a dry-film lubricant (like Elmer's Slide-All) for that very reason.

As Datawise and HandyAndy have said, the upper chime is missing.
No plunger is missing. It is one piece and it gets pulled down by the solenoid then when released it goes up. Oil won't fix this.
Someone wanted the ding but not the dong.
