Door trim in tight areas???

I am finishing a remodeling project. The one door has vent soffits above both sides and is tight to one wall. Therefore, on one side I can fit traditional trim on both sides but not the top. On the other I only have about 1 1/2 on the right, 3-4" on the left and 1 1/2 on top.

How do you suggest trimming this out?

I'd match whatever style of trim is in the same area
In most cases I see the trim cut to fit

One window I have is close to a wall
That side is simply cut thinner to fit
