door threshold and sweep

1241 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Nealtw
Hi this door is in my basement, drafty since behind it is uninsulated space. It is a 1 3/8 hollow door (not ideal), and no threshold or sweep, approx 7/8" gap. The floor is vinyl on top of concrete. Any suggestions for threshold & sweep (most seem to be for 1 3/4" thick door)? Trying to minimize drafts not replace the door.

I had a similar problem, blocking noise more than cold I used an out swing threshold with a seal to meet the door.

Lazy way——-roll up an old bath towel and put it in front of the door.

out swing threshold with a seal to meet the door is just perfect option. in this way, you can fill the space and no need to replace the door.
i think there is no other way .
Thanks

Great minds think alike...
Thanks for the input. So if i get an outswing threshold, am i looking for one that has the seal from the threshold, or do i pair that with a door sweep to make the seal? Thanks again!
I never found a sweep that would work so I just have the seal that is part of the threshold.
