We are renovating our kitchen which is adjacent to an enclosed porch, the same width as the kitchen. The porch is going to be repaired and its exterior walls and ceiling will be insulated but the porch space itself will not be heated because we can't get any runs there from our furnace. Because space in the kitchen is tight, it would be ideal if the kitchen door would open out into the porch area, but I know that doors usually open into heated spaces. Temperatures here go below freezing only a few weeks of the year but I'm mindful that I don't want want to pull cold air into the house every time we open that door. Any thoughts?

So buy an out opening exterior door.
We have no pictures and no idea what the square footage is but a mini split may work to heat and or cool that space.

Out swing exterior doors are available--but to get an interesting one, you may have to special order it.

The main reason residential doors open 'in' is this--screen doors---all commercial doors open out.

Thx Msradell, nice system but I'm not going spend $1500 plus install plus electricity to heat the porch. It's only a passage to the back door. I just hope we won't pull in too much cold air when we open the kitchen door.
