Had a bathroom door replaced. It looks great but it wants to swing shut on its own. It appears to be plumb but obviously there is a problem.

Is there an adjustment I can make to the hinges to fix this?

You can remove one of the hinge pins and whack it on the side to give it a very slight bow. That generally creates enough resistance to keep the door from closing on it's own.


In my half bath I installed a magnetic door stopper which works well.

I second slightly bending one (or more) of the hinge pins. Pop it up, give it a whack or two with a hammer, then tap it back in.

Appearances can be deceiving. Have you put a 4' level on all planes? Bending the pin may solve the problem, but it isn't a cure for a bad (non plumb) install.

If you have enough clearance to the unhinged jamb when the door is closed, try adding some shims to the bottom hinge on the frame (not door) side of the hinge.
